Poha As per Nutritionists poha or beaten rice is one of the healthiest breakfasts, a good source of iron and carbohydrates. It is made by soaking rice overnight in water and then roasting, polishing, flattening and drying it. Beaten rice is considered better than wheat or oats because it does not cause bloating or gas. Indian stores offer multiple varieties of beaten rice, made from different types of rice grains.

Poha can be used to make sweets or as a cereal or it can be fried in oil to get a snack. One of the quick breakfast & snack made with beaten rice or flattened rice, spices, peanuts(moong fali), onions and dhaniya patte, is not only popular in Maharashtrian and Gujarati cuisines but also in many other regions of India.
