Jaiphal (noun.) Nutmeg in English is widely in the preparation of sweet and savoury dishes. It is associated with sweet, puddings, cookies, custards, cakes and spicy recipes. The hard fruit of nutmeg is collected from the tree. It has robust nutty, slightly sweet and warm flavour. It is one of the key herb found in the garam masala with cardamom (Ilaichi), cinnamon (Dalchini) and cloves (Lavang).
