What is ground cloves ?

Ground clove is a powdered form of the herb that is used as a key ingredient in the preparation of spicy curries and pilau rice. It is, basically, unopened flower bud. The powdered form delivers strong aromatic pungent, sweet bitter and warm flavour. It can be found in many European and North American foods like pumpkin pie or spice cake. It tastes like the nutmeg.


Ayurveda states “the intake of the cloves can cure digestive disorders.” As per Ayurveda Syzygium aromaticum ( scientific name) increases digestive fire and raises the level of heat in the body, hence, is recommended in winters. The tea of cloves and ginger is taken to pacify cold and flu symptoms.
