What defines a curry ?

Karahi curry is not a soup and it is not a stew. Turmeric and ginger residues have been found in ancient Indus valley pots dating back to 4,500 years ago.  It is a recipe with a soupy texture which contains curry masala powder. The curry masala powder uses a combination of dried herbs often used in Indian cuisine. Curry powder is not a spicy or sour preparation; it contains a combination of aromatic herbs.

To add taste to the recipe one can add tomatoes, ginger-garlic, onion and chillies to the preparation to get a spicy taste. Curries can be of many varieties. It can be prepared into a hot, sour or spicy meal or just sweet –salt. Salt, sugar (or sweetener), chillies and sour tastes are added to the basic curry to get a unique taste.
