What are poppadoms made of ?

Poppadum or papads are thin wafers like crunchy snacks commonly made up of Gram Flour and spices, frequently offered with a full thali meal at an Indian restaurant. The protein content of papads is higher than roti and calorie-wise 2 papads are equal to 1 roti. It is a gluten-free alternative to roti or naan as it is made up of legumes like chickpeas or lentils but is far from bread.

Raw ones can be found at stores in packets that is heated in the oven or fried in oil before consumption. Deep fry method can increase the oil and fat intake, that's why, oven cooked method is preferred by calorie-conscious eaters.
